No More Gentlemen!

Husband and I would usually go to work riding a bus. It’s easier that way, we would sit and sleep and then walk to work upon arriving the busy capital of Makati. But on this particular day, June 6 (the start of classes) all the bus seems so full. It didn’t help that husband is on his way to catch his flight to Iloilo while I would be commuting all alone and all the bus going to work seems very much jam-packed! I had no choice but to stand up. That’s good one hour of standing up, good exercise I must say. ^_^

The men (who I guess is 40% of the population on the bus) all of a sudden fell asleep – that’s one good tactic to ignore a very pregnant me standing up in the middle of the bus! And that’s one good sign that they are somehow conscientious that some pregnant lady is standing while they were sitting pretty. I wanted to sing UPUAN by Gloc 9!

Kayo po na nakaupo
Subukan niyo namang tumayo
At baka matanaw,
At baka matanaw ninyo,
And tunay na kalagayan ko…

I would not complain. Never. Or at least i tried. They have the right to sit, they paid for that anyways. But when it’s good 45 minutes of standing already, with 2 bags full of what-nots and my tummy is asking for breakfast and I still want to sleep and I am PREGNANT for Christ sake! I asked myself, where’s the Priority Seat???

And then so suddenly, A WOMAN taps my back and gave me her seat. A WOMAN! I wonder if ever there’s a man who saw that but these men should have seen what that poor woman did. Exchanges places with me. That was sooo sweet of a gesture, God bless that lady!

So if ever you’re lost in this side of the planet, don’t be surprised! There’s NO MORE Gentlemen here! No more!

How about you? Is there any gentlemen left in your place? Tell me I am wrong with this. I will be more than glad to know if there’s someone left of that extinct species of men wherever part of the world you are. ^_^
